And for the Korean version...

Like I said to IM, I think everybody did a better version of this song than GNR. This is awesome .

My sense is that her covers of Nirvana and her cover of Dire Straits are her strongest points - due to on odd sort of stylistic synergy - but she’s pretty uniformly good.

Sultans of Swing certainly lends itself to this interpretation.

GNR did it best.

Judging by some of the fascinating covers I’ve come across this morning, I’m not so sure. If anything, they wrote a great song , one that transfers well between multiple styles of music.

That was not the voice I was expecting out of that frame. They’re good, though.

Try this one. I’m not sure the band is doing her any favors on this one, but she’s got a fantastic voice. I’d like to hear her in a couple more years, as her technique improves.

Not bad, but, counterpoint:

That bass player is great .  The whole cover is good, but would suffer without his funky bass line.  The whole thing has a Post-Modern Jukebox feel to it.

This is quickly turning into a SWOM cover thread. There are tons of them out there. Which goes to show that GNR wrote a great song , but may not have recorded the best version of it. This is the first blues version I’ve come across.

Galileo Humpkins just posted the PMJ version. I haven’t listened to the whole thing yet. Sounds great so far. But yes, the bass player makes this funk cover, and I wanted a little more out of the singer. The trumpet solo is uninspired.

I agree, the GNR version (while good in it’s own dated rock-right kind of way) probably isn’t the best version out there.

I’m admittedly a little confused by the random tap number, but hey, why not?

It’s a song that lends itself to acoustic treatments, for sure . I’m positive I remember seeing G&R doi ng an unplugged ver si on on MTV back in the day, and being completely blown away by it, but I can’t find anythi ng on Youtube and they don’t show up on the MTV Unplugged setlist. Must have been on an interview show or something.

Yes! That’s the one I was originally looking for (but was too lazy to scroll down and find)!
